Cold, rainy weather was less than ideal for the 2nd Annual Miner Legacy Run on May 10, but nearly 50 participants showed up to help us raise money for nursing programs at CVPH in Plattsburgh. Chazy Orchard donated a crate of apples, Cabot donated sharp cheddar cheese bars, and Stewart's donated chocolate milk to keep racers and volunteers fueled up.
Event prep included lots of course preparations, tent setup, weeding and mulching the gardens around the Farm Office, and lots of lawn mowing in between raindrops. As usual, the Miner team stepped up to the plate and got it all done.
Race day participation included employees Katie Gardner and Ashley Brunell manning a water station on the course route, and Director of Lab Studies Steve Kramer led the pack to a first-place finish in the 5K! Also participating in the race was Adrianne Melis from our maintenance team and her daughter Grace; Dairy Team member Kris Kalvaitis' wife Jessie and daughter Kinsey; Chair of the Board Fred Woodward and his family; and PR & Marketing Coordinator Rachel Dutil's two daughters Madeleine and Camille. Big thanks to Steve Peters and Adirondack Coast Events for timing the event.

The Texas Roadhouse armadillo was on site handing out free appetizer coupons to each racer as they crossed the finish line.
We are so proud to be able to host this charity event and look forward to expanding the event next year to include other activities around the farm as well.
