On July 23, we hosted The Alice T. Miner Museum's history camp for a "Day on the Farm" experience. We were joined by Leni Vradelis, program coordinator at the museum; Alysha Kuhn, 2025 Burke History Intern; and 15 enthusiastic campers for a day at Miner Institute.
We danced on the lawn, toured the Heritage Exhibit, decorated the Wayside Walk with chalk art, learned about how we care for our Morgan horses, pretended to be horses while another camper guided us with reigns, learned about what we feed our dairy cows, observed milking in the dairy parlor, made mozzarella cheese, and designed and raced hobby horses!! We even had the campers hop on the scale outside the Heritage Exhibit and they weighed in at 2,301 pounds (this included an antique wagon, 14 kids, and two adults)!
It was a fantastic, exhausting day! We hope that the campers enjoyed their time at Miner Institute as much as we enjoyed having them. We are already plotting and planning how to make it even better in 2026!
