Marcos Marcondes

Dr. Marcos Inácio Marcondes is a dairy research scientist at the William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute. He earned his B.Sc., M.Sc. (2007), and Ph.D. (2010) in Animal Science from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Brazil. He later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida (2018–2019), focusing on ruminant nutrition and metabolomics.

From 2010 to 2021, Dr. Marcondes served as a professor of Dairy Cattle Nutrition and Management at UFV, where he established a strong research program and mentored numerous graduate students. In 2021, he joined the faculty at Washington State University, where he continued to advance research in dairy nutrition until transitioning to Miner Institute in October 2024.

At MarcondesLab, his research focuses on feed evaluation, nutrient requirements, and the economics of dairy production systems. He also investigates nutritional strategies to enhance calf and heifer development, including mammary gland growth, and evaluates feed additives aimed at reducing enteric methane emissions. His integrative approach combines animal nutrition, metabolism, reproduction, and behavior to improve the sustainability and efficiency of dairy systems.
