Steve began working at Miner Institute in 1981 in the maintenance department. In 1994, he was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor, and in 1998 to Director of Physical Plant. Steve's duties at the Institute cover various aspects of the day to day operations associated with the grounds and buildings, to include construction and renovation, power plant, water quality, routine maintenance, and management of employees. Steve is a certified Class C water operator, and has completed classes in the trades which include residential and commercial electricity, plumbing and heating, refrigeration, and welding.

Steve is a native of Plattsburgh, having been raised on a dairy farm in Point Au Roche where he currently lives. He is a graduate of Beekmantown Central School.
