Kurt Cotanch is the Director of Forage Lab, thus we call him the "lab guy". His primary focus is to provide a practical perspective to research and forage analysis.
Steve Couture is the Dairy Farm Manager and contributes to the "What's Happening on the Farm" feature. He has worked on a variety of farms, which has provided him a vast amount of experience and knowledge.
Heather Dann is part of the Research team. Her area of focus include forage chemistry, nutritional physiology of dairy cattle, and the interaction between dairy cattle nutrition and the environment.
Wanda Emerich is the Dairy Outreach Coordinator and is responsible for the coordination of the educational programs for students, farmers, and agribusiness organizations.
Rick Grant is the President. His primary role is to provide leadership to staff as they work toward the common goal of optimizing the crop-animal interface through research and educational programs. His primary areas of interest include forage and nonforage sources of fiber, carbohydrate nutrition, and dairy cattle behavior.
Kent Henderson is the only “non-Miner Institute” contributor, Kent is President of Northwest Veterinary Associates, Inc., a seven-person dairy practice located in St. Albans. Interests include reproduction/embryo transfer programs, parasitology, and calf and replacement heifer rearing. He was a consulting veterinarian from 1995-99 for Formula One, the last veal feed company in Vermont, and raised Registered Holstein heifers from frozen embryo to springer stage from 1989 to 1997. Kent is the veterinarian for the Institute dairy herd.
Ev Thomas is the Farm Report Editor, and Vice President-Agriculture Programs. His responsibilities as VP include research, education, and the Institute’s crop program. As Editor of the Farm Report he is responsible for the majority of items not attributed to one of the other writers.
