The William H. Miner

Agricultural Research Institute

The James A.
FitzPatrick Library

The library, dedicated in 1990 to former Miner Institute President James A. FitzPatrick, is located next to the Miner Center Educational Building. It houses approximately 5,000 books, research reports, conference proceedings and videos, as well as numerous maps and journal holdings.

The library is also equipped with four networked computers, a color printer and a television with DVD player and VCR.

The library supports the current education and research programs at the Institute. The collection is especially strong in the areas of dairy cattle nutrition and behavior, equine reproduction and behavior, field crops, nutrient management, forest and wildlife ecology, and soil science.

The public is welcome to use the library collection during regular hours. Requests to borrow materials from the James A. FitzPatrick Library can be made through your local library.

Historical Archives

The FitzPatrick Library houses an impressive archive of historical photographs and documents chronicling the development of Heart's Delight Farm in the early 1900s. A dedicated archives committee oversees the storage and use of the archives. As part of a 2011 grant from the Northern NY Library Network, numerous maps and blueprints from the archives were digitized and can be viewed through the NNYLN website.

Use of the archives is by appointment only and requires prior permission from the archives committee. Contact the librarian for additional information.

The library is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Librarian Amy Bedard can be reached by phone at (518) 846-7121, ext. 149 or you can email her if you have questions.
