Farm Days for 5th Graders

Miner Institute hosts Farm Days for 5th Graders generally during the first full week of June. Farm Days allows students the opportunity to observe agriculture in action. Our mission in this program is to help students become more aware of agriculture in our community and its impact on our daily lives.

Students will explore many aspects of agriculture during the day to include cow care and maintenance, modern equipment, and horse care and maintenance. Students learn about the comfortable environment where cows live, the areas where cows are milked and what cows eat. In addition, all participate in a hands-on activity with the fistulated cow. Students observe modern equipment used for planting, harvesting, and storing our crops. Students also learn about horse behavior, care and maintenance, and training.
